Specify bar code length restrictions
If a document contains more than one 2D bar codes, it is possible to filter the results based on bar code length. This is possible no matter what method of bar code recognition is used.
You can filter bar codes based on length by following these steps:
- Open the locator properties.
-
On the
General tab, in the
Length group, select
Restrict length.
Two additional settings are now available to let you specify the minimum and maximum length of a bar code.
- Enter a Min. length.
-
Enter a
Max. length.
This filters out 2D bar codes that do not match the specified length.
- Open a test document and click Test to test your settings.
- Optionally, click Close to close the locator properties window.
- Save the changes to your project.
If you are using the OmniPage recognition engine and have a 1D bar code, you can restrict the recognition results by setting the Min. length to avoid misrecognition on the Settings tab. The recognition results contain only 1D bar codes with at least the specified length. This setting is different to the other length settings on the General tab because this setting does not even recognize bar codes that are too short. All bar codes are recognized but then the results are filtered based on the General tab length settings. For the best results when using 1D bar codes, use the Settings tab length setting. For 2D bar codes, use the General tab length settings if needed.
