PDF generation activity

Use the PDF generation activity to automatically create a PDF from a document or all documents in a folder.

A PDF generation activity creates a PDF from a document using the settings defined in a PDF generation profile. You can configure this activity to determine whether certain metadata fields in the generated PDF are populated from a document field or a fixed value. If you chose "Document", the PDF metadata field is populated with the value of a document field. However, the metadata field is only populated if the document is classified. If the document is not classified, a PDF with no metadata field is created.

You can embed miscellaneous files in PDF generation.

Before you attach files to the PDF generation, ensure to do the following:

  1. Upload these files as asset files.

  2. Set the text extension to hold the asset name in the format, "PdfAttachment.AssetName.0" for the first document, "PdfAttachment.AssetName.1" for the second, and so on. Ensure to start with 0 and leave no gaps.

The PDF Generation activity considers text extensions in that format and automatically attaches them to the PDF.

This activity is automatically executed at runtime if the Transformation Server is installed on your system. Refer to the Tungsten TotalAgility Installation Guide.
