Validate list boxes
List boxes, also known as combo boxes, are fields that allow you to type in a value or select a value from a list. A list box is configured in one of two ways. You can type any value into the field, regardless of that value being part of the list or not. The other setting restricts you to typing or selecting a value already in the list.
You can validate a list box by following these steps:
- Open a document with one or more validation errors.
- Use your mouse or the Shift + Up Arrow and Shift + Down Arrow keys to navigate to the desired field you are validating.
- Type a value or select a value from the list box.
-
Press Enter to send the field to the
Thin Client Server
for validation.
If you edit a list box field and do not press Enter to initiate the validation process with the Thin Client Server straight away, the contents of that field are displayed as italic text when you navigate to a different field. The next time you press Enter for a field, all modified fields are sent for validation at that point.
If the field is valid, it turns green on the image, and the next invalid field or table cell automatically loads.
If the field fails validation, the field remains invalid.
