Enhanced bar codes
The Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine is configured in the Tungsten Capture batch class and bar codes are extracted during Tungsten Capture Scan. These results are then available for use in Tungsten Transformation Toolkit as input for a Bar Code Locator if required. For more information about the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine and configuring bar codes in Tungsten Capture, see the Tungsten Capture Help.
Patch codes are not supported, even a patch code is successfully configured in Tungsten Capture.
Use the results of the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine as input for the Bar Code Locator when bar codes are not easily recognized using the default OmniPage recognition engine.
If you extract a bar code using the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine, standalone or paired with OmniPage, several limitations are encountered.
-
There are issues with the bar code coordinates when the Tungsten Capture Recognition Server is involved. Because of this, the results are available but voting cannot be carried out based on bar code positions.
For the best results, use scan-time bar code detection in Tungsten Capture. This ensures that the enhanced bar code extraction works without issues in Tungsten Transformation Toolkit
-
Orientation coordinates are not returned by the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine. Because of this, bar codes may not have the correct highlighting, and vertical bar codes are never highlighted correctly.
-
The height and width of a bar code are not returned by the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine with Tungsten Capture 11.0 and its installed version of VRS (5.1.1). However, if you upgrade to Tungsten Capture 11.0.1 or later and VRS 5.1.2 or later, the height and width of a bar code are usually returned and the bar code is highlighted correctly unless the bar code is at an odd angle. This also means that bar code location matching and voting is improved for the bar codes detected by Enhanced Bar Code recognition .
You can specify how the Enhanced Bar Code recognition engine is used by configuring a Bar Code Locator.
