Recovering an Inaccessible Card Reader
An Ethernet Card Reader might become inaccessible if there are issues with the configured card reader settings. This may occur when:
- The card reader was originally assigned to a different system.
- The card reader’s network settings aren’t compatible with the network.
- The card reader was deleted from the system without resetting it to its factory default settings.
To reconfigure a card reader, do the following:
- Connect the power supply.
- Connect the network cable to the Printer port only.
- When the LED light is blinking red and green, in System Manager > Devices select Discover Kofax Card Readers.
- Select a DCS Server and enter the IP address range, and click Discover.
- In the Discovered Card Reader(s) dialog box, select the card reader that was placed into maintenance mode and click Import.
- In System Manager > Devices, click Refresh. Right-click the imported card reader and select Edit.
- On the Device interface summary screen, click Reset to factory defaults.
Note: The card reader cannot be configured any further
until it is taken out of maintenance mode by restoring its normal
network and printer connections.
