Document separation is the process of distinguishing one document from another at scan time or during import. Stacks of paper sheets may contain single sheet documents, multi-sheet documents, or a combination of both. During scanning or import, the images may be separated into documents, either automatically or manually.

There are several methods of document separation:

• Bar code separation

• Patch code separation

• Fixed sheet separation

• Manual separation

Configure these options in the of the Scan Settings window.
