Moving pages, documents, and folders

You can move a folder, document, or pages to a different location.

If you are moving an item to a location that is not visible in the Navigator Panel, drag the item onto the Navigator Panel and while holding the mouse button, do one of the following depending on your web browser:

  • Firefox: Use your mouse wheel to scroll up and down to locate a location.

  • Chrome: Use your mouse wheel to scroll up and down to locate a location.

In the Multi-Document Thumbnail viewer, you cannot move a document to an empty folder.

You can also move documents and pages with shortcut keys.

  1. If you are moving all documents out of a folder, validate the folder fields before you move the documents.

Because the system does not automatically delete empty folders, this means that you do not have any invalid folder fields that cannot be validated. Alternatively, you can delete the empty folder.

Depending on the project settings, it may be necessary to validate the folder or document after the move.

You can only move items if you have the necessary permissions.

  2. Select the items to move.
  3. Use the shortcut keys where allowed, or drag and drop the items to the new location in the Navigator Panel or within the Multi-Document Thumbnail.

In the Multi-Document Thumbnail viewer, you can select a single document or multiple documents, and also can select multiple pages in the same document row. You cannot select pages across documents. In the Navigator Panel, multiple selections are allowed.

When you drag items, the system displays the Allowed icon and a dotted line to indicate where you can drop items. If you cannot drop the item, the system displays the Not Allowed icon.

When dragging a document in the Multi-Document Thumbnail, the cursor changes to an insert pointer.
