Channels in Document Packs

Each Document Pack contains output for a number of channels. When Communications Manager processes a Document Pack, the output is produced for each channel configured in Communication Manager Designer on a per-project basis. Each produced Document Pack contains the contents for a default channel. The Communications Manager Core scripting commands operate on this output when no configured channel name is provided. The contents of the default channel depend on the origin of the Document Pack:

  • The default channel for Document Packs composed by Communications Manager contains the output for the predefined Word channel. This channel produces Microsoft Word documents and XML files. If the Word channel is not configured for the project, the default channel produces an empty result, in other words, it will contain no output.

  • The electronic delivery exit points in Batch & Output Management receive Document Packs with the default channel. This channel contains the output equivalent to the output of the channel that is selected by Batch & Output Management.

  • For Document Packs that are manipulated by the Communications Manager Core scripting commands, the contents of the default channel depend on the performed manipulations.
