Communications Manager Toolbox for Word installation
Communications Manager Toolbox for Word is an add-in to Microsoft Word that gives you the ability to easily add Fields to Rich Text Blocks and Quick Templates in Communication Manager Designer. The functionality is supported on Microsoft Word 2013 and later, and only for the DOCX documents.
Requirements
- Communications Manager Toolbox for Word requires a web server.
- All users running Communications Manager Toolbox for Word must have an active Internet connection.
- The
manifest.xml file for the Toolbox must be stored in a shared folder accessible to all users.
Use a UNC path syntax to refer to this folder when you perform the steps described in this topic.
- To install Communications Manager Toolbox for Word, in your Communications Manager installation, navigate to the <deploy root>\CommunicationsManager\Programs\<version>\ITPMDKRepositoryServer\ccmtoolboxforword\webapp folder, copy its content, and then deploy it on your web server. Make a note of the URL used to access the application.
- Copy the file ccmforword manifest-2025.3.0.0.0.xml from <deploy root>\CommunicationsManager\Programs\<version>\ITPMDKRepositoryServer\ccmtoolboxforword\manifest to the shared folder.
- In the file
ccmforword manifest-2025.3.0.0.0.xml, specify values for the
<AppDomain> node and the
DefaultValue attribute of the
<SourceLocation> node:
- In the <AppDomain> node, specify the URL to access the application.
- In the DefaultValue attribute of <SourceLocation>, specify the URL to access the application and add /app/index.html to it.
- Use the
ManageCM/ChangeContract commands to configure the shared folder for the
ccmforword manifest-2025.3.0.0.0.xml file. For configuration, use
/Toolboxpath as the parameter. This must be configured for each contract where you want to use
Communications Manager
Toolbox for Word. For example:

Requirements for Editing and Viewing in Word
The editing functionality is based on the native WebDAV technology and is supported for all modern browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, and Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Word 2016 or later is required on the computer where Communication Manager Designer runs.
This functionality requires that the Communications Manager Server is part of the same intranet zone as the client or that is it in the trusted sites zone for each client.
