Manual component installation
This chapter describes the manual installation of Communications Manager software to a single server where it hasn't been installed yet. The installation consists of the following steps:
- Decide which resources the Communications Manager server should have. This determines which Communications Manager components can be installed.
- Installation of the Communications Manager structure. At this point, you must also provide the resources for the enabled capabilities.
- Installation of
Communications Manager
components one by one. Only components that are allowed by the capabilities can be installed.
It is also possible to modify the resources of a Communications Manager server after installation with the help of the ConfigureServer.exe tool.
The components that can be added are the Contract Manager, one or more Communications Manager Instances, the Batch and Output Management, and Communications Manager Control Center.
Communications Manager resources
The resources that are configured for a Communications Manager server determine which Communications Manager components can be installed on it. You can configure the following resources:
-
The internal host name of the Communications Manager server. *
-
The user account for the Communications Manager services. *
-
The user account for the Communications Manager web services.
-
The port for the Contract Manager.
-
The port for Communications Manager Control Center.
-
The start point for the internal ports allocated by Communications Manager. *
-
The start point for the private ports allocated by Communications Manager. *
-
The Java installation that Communications Manager uses.
-
The Tomcat installation that Communications Manager uses.
-
The public certificate to encrypt outside traffic to the Communications Manager server.
-
The internal certificate to encrypt internal traffic on/to the Communications Manager server. *
These resources are needed when:
-
The resources marked with (*) are required and must always be configured to start a Communications Manager installation.
-
Adding a Contract Manager to a Communications Manager server requires the web services account, Contract Manager port, Java installation, Tomcat installation and public certificate to be configured (on top of the always required resources).
-
Adding an instance to a Communications Manager server requires the web services account, Java installation and Tomcat installation to be configured (on top of the always required resources).
-
Adding Communications Manager Control Center to a Communications Manager server requires the web services account, Communications Manager Control Center port, Java installation, Tomcat installation, and public certificate to be configured (on top of the always required resources).
You can provide resources on the command line of Install.exe (automatic installation), Upgrade.exe (automatic upgrade), and PrepareServer.exe (first step of manual installation). The configured resources are used automatically by installation steps.
You can also add, change, or remove resources in an existing Communications Manager installation with the help of the ConfigureServer.exe tool.
