Create and edit a Quick Template as an HTML document

The following steps describe how to create a Quick Template as an HTML document. In the HTML Quick Template Editor, you can edit only UTF-8 encoded HTML files.

  1. Navigate to Content > Quick Templates.
  2. Click Quick Templates and click New Quick Template in the New pane on the right.

    The New Quick Template window appears.

  3. Enter a name for the Quick Template you are creating. From the Type drop-down list, select HTML Document and then click OK.
    The Quick Template appears in Quick Templates.
  4. Click the Quick Template you just created and click Edit in the View and Edit pane on the right.
    Also, you can download the Quick Template to your computer to edit it in the editor of your choice and then upload it back to KCM Designer. To do so, click the object and then click Download for editing locally in the View and Edit pane on the right. Click Just download or click Lock and download to lock the object for other users. When you finish editing the object in your editor, save it and then click Upload locally edited file in KCM Designer to upload the file from your computer.

    Note The following encodings are supported for HTML5 Quick Templates: UTF-8, UTF-16LE, ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-15, and Windows-1252. Also, the maximum supported size of the uploaded file is 40 MB.

    The Quick Template is opened in the HTML Quick Template Editor.

  5. Add some HTML elements. You can add Fields from the Fields list on the right. Place the cursor where you want to insert a Field and then double-click the Field to insert it. Also, you can click the Field in the Fields list and then drag it to the edit field on the left. You can also apply one of the predefined formatting functions to the Fields in your HTML5 Quick Template. To do so, add a colon after the Field name and type in the function name. For example, «[Customer.LastName:capital]» capitalizes the first character of the customer's last name. For more information, see Format a Field.
  6. Click Save & Close.
  7. Click the Quick Template and then click Create Document Template in the Other Actions pane on the right.
  8. To view the Quick Template, navigate to Communications > Document Templates. Click the Document Template and click Test in the Other Actions pane on the right.

    The Test window appears.

  9. Click Test.

    You can either view or save the result.
