Manage Test Data

KCM Designer uses data to generate documents. All the data received from the repository and collected from interaction with the clients is defined by the Data Backbone. KCM Designer also gives you the ability to manage data that is used to test the documents.

There are two ways to manage the Test Data content:

  • To create a new XML file containing the data you need and upload it to KCM Designer
  • To edit the existing data file

Edit Test Data

You can download an existing XML Test Data file, make changes to it, and then upload it back to KCM Designer.

  1. Navigate to Data.
  2. Click Data Backbone and then click Manage Test Data in the Other Actions pane on the right.

    The Test Data Manager window appears.

  3. Click Add, enter a name for the new test data, and click the pencil icon. Choose the XML file to edit and click Open.
    The Edit Test Data window appears.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Open the file in a text editor. Make necessary changes to the data.
    Note Make changes only to the values, leaving the XML structure and tags intact.
  6. Save the file to your computer.
  7. Close the Edit Test Data window.
  8. In the Test Data Manager window, click Add to upload the file you changed.
    The New Test Data window appears.
  9. Enter a name for the file and click the pencil icon.
  10. Navigate to the XML Test Data file you just edited, click it, and then click Open.
  11. In the New Test Data window, click OK.
    The XML file appears in the list and is ready to be used in the test.
