Provide access control for a query

You can provide permissions to groups or individual resources to run, view, edit or delete a query. You can grant functional access separately from maintenance access so that when you grant full control you do not automatically grant run permissions on the query.

By default, the logged on user has maintenance access (full control) and functional access (run a query).

  1. Navigate to Queries > Job queries/Work queue queries/System queries.

    The list of queries appears.

  2. Create a new query or open the query for which you want to provide access control.
  3. Click the Access control tab.
  4. By default, the logged on user has maintenance access (full control) on a query. To provide maintenance access to a group or other individual resources, do the following:
    1. Click for Maintenance Access.
    2. On the Name list, select the group or individual resources to whom you want to provide access.
    3. On the Type list, select the permission type you want to provide for the resource:
      • Full control: Allows to use, edit, and delete the query, and provide or change the access permissions.

      • Edit: Allows to use, edit, and delete the query.

      • Read: Allows to view the query.

On upgrading Tungsten TotalAgility from an earlier version:

      • The query owner, the resources assigned to the query and the selected resources have full control.

      • The resources with full control are added to the functional access with run permissions on the query.

      • The resources with run permissions are added to the functional access with run permissions on the query and listed under maintenance access with read permission.

  5. To execute a query, you require run permissions on the query. By default, the logged on user has functional access on a query. To provide functional access to a group or other individual resources, do the following:
    1. Click for Functional Access.
    2. On the Name list, select the group or individual resources to whom you want to provide access.

When you add or modify a user under Functional Access group, you will be able to grant permission for running a query. However, a user with read/write maintenance access can change these settings.

  6. Click Add and save the query.
