Create an alert task

Perform the following step depending upon whether to create an
alert task on a process, milestone or activity.

To create an alert task on a process, on the Extended Properties page of the process, click the Triggers tab.

To create an alert task for a milestone, on the Milestones page, click Triggers. See Create milestone triggers.

To create an alert task for an activity, select the required activity, and on the Extended Properties page of activity, click the Triggers tab.

- Click Alert for Type and click Configure.
- Enter a Name for the alert task by consuming a String type variable or entering a static (inline) value.
- Similarly, enter a Description (optional).

To specify a due date for the alert task, select one of the
following options:

Static: Enter time in days, hours, minutes and seconds.

Variable: To specify a dynamic due date, consume the variable in the given box, and if required, set the lead time (positive or negative). See Additional information on due date for an alert task.

Milestone: To specify a due date relative to a milestone, click Milestone, consume the required milestone in the given box, and set the lead time (positive or negative).

- If preferred, set the lead time, "+"or "-". For more information about lead time, see Additional information on due date for an alert task.

To set the
Priority, use either
option:

Select in the range from 1-10 as appropriate. (Default: 1)

To use a dynamic value, click Static
, and
consume a variable of type Short.

To specify the
Resource to alert when
the trigger is executed, select either option:

Resource: Consume the resource, group or role to use.

Variable: Consume a String type variable or a system variable (job creator/job creator supervisor/job owner).

- Optionally, enter a link to the Associated File.

Select either
Trigger Type:
- Budget: To raise the alert for cost violation, enter or select a percentage of budget spend when the alert task should be executed. For example, to execute a trigger when 80% of your budget is spent, set Fire Trigger at 80 % of Budget.
- Job Duration: To raise the alert, when the set time period in relation to the expected job due date has passed, enter the Target Duration in days, hours, minutes and/or seconds. Select "+" to raise the alert later than the due date or select "-" to raise the alert before the due date. For example, to raise the alert, three days later than the due date, select "+" for Target Duration, and enter 3 in the Days box.
Note If you do not set the target duration and value is 0, the alert is raised when the due date is met. -
Click
OK.
When the trigger is executed, the alert task is added to the work queue of the selected resources.
Note You can update the target duration of the alert task directly on the Triggers tab – modify the target duration and click Update
