Introduction to the Thin Client

As part of Kofax Front Office Server, the Thin Client lets you assemble scanned and imported documents into jobs to submit to a destination. A destination can be an email or fax recipient, another Kofax Front Office Server user (or yourself), a content management system like SharePoint, a folder or a network drive, or Kofax Capture. The administrator provides you with shortcuts for submitting jobs. Shortcuts may include fields with pre-filled data. You can use these shortcuts to define your own.

Before submitting a job, the Thin Client lets you modify images in the job by rotating, redacting, and annotating them.

If you do not have regular access to Kofax Front Office Server, you can download the Local Client, which opens in a browser and runs on your computer, giving you access to most Thin Client features. The Local Client lets you continue working with jobs on your local computer while the server is unavailable. When the server becomes available, the data is synchronized and jobs you submitted are delivered. The Local Client remains connected to the server as long as the connection is available.

When using the Thin Client, note the following:

  • The same features apply to the Thin Client and Local Client unless stated otherwise.

  • You can resize popup windows by dragging the bottom right corner. These window sizes are retained when you close the browser or log off. To return the original size, click in the upper-righter corner.

To get started using the Thin Client:

  1. Connect to the Thin Client using the URL provided by the administrator.
  2. Log on to the Thin Client as follows:
    • If the administrator configured the Kofax Front Office Server to enable you to log on with your Windows account, the Thin Client starts automatically.

    • If you need to provide your user name and password, the Log On window appears where you enter your credentials.

The home page opens and displays the shortcuts assigned to you and any personal shortcuts that you created.

  3. When you finish using the Thin Client, click Log Off.

This keeps others from accidentally accessing your data at your computer.
