Creating and using coversheets

Creating a coversheet lets you send jobs directly to a shortcut as you scan at a device or at the Thin Client with the Kofax Web Capture Service. Coversheets contain bar codes that are encoded with information you enter at the Thin Client. Kofax Front Office Server decodes the information and sends the job with the data you specified. Also printed on the coversheet are your user ID, the name of the shortcut, and the date and time the coversheet was generated.

To use coversheets:

  • The administrator needs to create a Coversheet shortcut and give you access.

  • You must enable the browser to open pop-up windows for the Kofax Front Office Server or localhost for the Local Client.

Bar codes are not read when scanning coversheets with the Local Client.

Creating a coversheet

  1. At the Home screen, move the mouse over the shortcut to use for your coversheet.

A toolbar appears to the right of the shortcut.

  2. Click the Coversheet () button.

A window appears with the fields for the shortcut.

  3. To change the values on the coversheet, enter the new values into the fields.

For tips, see Entering data in fields.

  4. Click Save.
  5. When the coversheet appears in the browser window, print the coversheet.

Scanning with a coversheet at the Thin Client

Follow this procedure to scan a job with a coversheet at the Thin Client. For instructions about scanning with coversheets at a device, see the Help on that device.

  1. At the Home screen, create a new job using the Coversheet shortcut.
  2. Place the coversheet in front of the jobs that you want to send to a shortcut. You can include more than one coversheet in a scan job.

For example, you have two jobs to send to different shortcuts. The first job has two pages, and the second has one. Arrange the paper in the scan job as follows:

    • Coversheet for job 1

    • Job 1, page 1 of 2

    • Job 1, page 2 of 2

    • Coversheet for job 2

    • Job 2, page 1 of 1

  3. Scan the job as shown in Scanning pages from the Thin Client. Insert the pages in the automatic document feeder (ADF) or place them one at a time on the flatbed.
  4. Click Submit.

The coversheet submission window opens. There are no fields because the information is encoded on the coversheet.

  5. Click Submit to send the job as specified on the coversheet.
