Desktop Productivity Scanning

Desktop Productivity features are add-ins that support the scanning of small sets of documents from Microsoft Office applications or from your Windows Desktop or File Explorer.

By default, all of the Desktop Productivity add-ins are enabled. However, you or your Administrator can use the Desktop Productivity panel in the Kofax VRS Administration Console to adjust user access.

All Desktop Productivity functions support two scanning options:

  • Fast Scan: Quickly scan documents using a Kofax predefined profile.
  • Scan with Preview: Scan using a Kofax predefined profile, preview the results, and apply adjustments before saving the scanned documents.

Predefined scan profiles

When using Fast Scan or Scan with Preview, you must use one of the following predefined profiles, which are configured to deliver optimal results. Each profile is set to 200 dpi and consists of predefined VRS settings that cannot be edited.

  • Color Only: Settings are optimized for color documents. Pages are scanned using a combination of auto rotation, blank page removal, and VRS default settings for color images.
  • Color or Black & White: Settings are optimized for both color and black and white documents. Pages are scanned using a combination of auto rotation, color page detection, blank page removal, and VRS default settings.
  • Black & White Only: Settings are optimized for black and white documents. Pages are scanned using a combination of auto rotation, blank page removal, and VRS default settings for black and white images.
