Setting Preferences

  1. On the Administration Console, click Preferences.
  2. On the Preferences panel, select the items you want to update:
    • Kofax VRS Elite demo mode: Set one of the following preferences for previewing Kofax VRS Elite features. After changing the setting, restart your scan application.

Demo On: Unlocks access to the Kofax VRS Elite features for demonstration purposes. While the demo is active, any images that you scan are digitally stamped. If you upgrade to a Kofax VRS Elite license, the features are available permanently and image stamping is discontinued.

Demo Off: Locks access to the Kofax VRS Elite feature set. The features remain on the user interface, but they are unavailable.

If your product license supports Kofax VRS Elite features, the demo mode settings do not appear on the Preferences panel.

    • Shared Profiles: Click Update Now to automatically download the latest published updates to scan profiles or the Auto Profile training set. Available only in a client/server installation.

    • Multicore Processing: Set one of the following preferences for performing VRS image processing across multiple CPU cores:

Automatic: Multicore processing is used only if you have a VRS production license.

On: Multicore processing is always used, regardless of your license. If you do not have a VRS production license, the images are stamped.

Off: Multicore processing is never used, regardless of your license. The Off setting is typically used only for diagnostic purposes.

Multicore processing can enhance overall performance, depending on other factors such as computer hardware, the scanner, Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer settings, and scan application settings.

    • Kofax VRS Language: Select the language in which you want the VRS user interface and online Help to appear. By default, the VRS installer sets the language to match the language of the Windows operating system.

If you select Windows Display Language, the VRS language is set according to the operating system preferences. If the Windows Display Language setting is not supported by VRS, English is used.

    • Log File: Lists the location where the Administration Console log file is stored. Click the Browse button to specify another location for the log file. The log file contains details about the operational history of the Administration Console via time-stamped status and error messages. The log file is helpful to Support personnel in the event that a problem occurs.
