Starting Kofax VRS

To use Kofax VRS for batch scanning, follow the procedure in this topic.

To use Kofax VRS to scan small document sets from your Microsoft Office applications, or from your Windows Desktop or File Explorer, see Desktop Productivity Scanning.

Kofax VRS is active once you start your scan application and select a VRS scanner or scan source. Once VRS is active, the VRS icon appears in the Windows taskbar notification area.
  1. Start your scan application or the Kofax VRS Test Console.
  2. Select a VRS scanner or scan source. The format for the interface used to select the VRS scan source and the name of the scan source varies, depending upon your scan application. Typically, the VRS scan source name is similar to one of the following formats:

    Kofax VRS Test Console

    <Your Scanner Model>

    ImageControls-based scan applications

    <Your Scanner Model> with SVRS

    <Your Scanner Model> with SVRS with AIPE

    ISIS-based scan applications

    VRS Scanner

    TWAIN-based scan applications

    Kofax Software VRS - TWAIN

    The VRS scan source you select here is typically the default scanner you configured when you installed Kofax VRS. If you want to use an alternate scan source, you or your Administrator can set it up using the Scanner Configuration panel in the Kofax VRS Administration Console.

  3. Verify that the VRS icon is active in the Windows taskbar notification area:
    • ImageControls-based scan applications: VRS icon appears immediately in the Windows taskbar notification area.

    • ISIS and TWAIN scan applications: VRS icon and the scanner interface appear at the same time, or the VRS icon appears when you start scanning.

  4. Place documents in the scanner and start scanning.
