Kofax VRS Overview

Kofax VRS provides a suite of image quality settings that you can automatically apply while documents are scanned. These settings work together with your scanner to ensure the quality of your scanner's output.

The following descriptions explain how you can use Kofax VRS for production scanning, or for Desktop Productivity scanning with smaller document sets.

Production Scanning

Batch Scan

Mid-volume or high-volume batches

Kofax VRS gives you the ability to achieve optimal image quality while performing production batch scans. Kofax VRS automatically applies the proper settings to enhance scanned images, which improves the accuracy of optical character recognition (OCR) and handwriting recognition (ICR) software. As a result, VRS helps to reduce file sizes and minimize the need for document preparation or manual activities that are costly to your organization.

Typically, after VRS is installed in an office environment, an Administrator pre-configures VRS so that it is ready to work with your organization's scanner and scanning application.

Then, when performing production batch scans, Kofax VRS automatically and transparently interfaces with your scanning application, evaluating each page as it is scanned and applying the correct image quality settings.

Desktop Productivity Scanning

Fast Scan

Fast Scan automatically enhances the image quality of small sets of documents scanned directly from your Windows Desktop, File Explorer, or Microsoft Office applications.

With Fast Scan, you can select from one of three predefined scanning profiles:
