Scan Profiles Overview
In VRS, a "scan profile" is a saved combination of values and scanner driver settings on the Image Quality tab of the Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer. Each scan profile is also associated with a scanner.
VRS includes one default scan profile that produces excellent image quality for a wide range of document types. You can create additional scan profiles with custom settings to accommodate different scanning situations. VRS automatically assigns a function key, starting with F5, to the first five scan profiles.
To create and manage scan profiles, use the Profiles panel from the Profile toolbar on the Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer.
To automate the process of applying scan profiles as you scan, use the Auto Profile feature on the Administration Console.
Shared Scan Profiles
In a VRS client/server installation, an administrator can share scan profiles created on any workstation and make them available to other users who have the same scanner. This is accomplished by using the Profiles panel on the Administration Console to "publish" the scan profiles and send them to the central repository that is accessible to other VRS workstations. Other users can download published scan profiles from the repository by clicking Update Now on the Preferences panel. The most current published scan profiles are also downloaded automatically when a user selects a scanner for use with VRS. Scan profiles are downloaded only if they apply to the scanner being used on the user's workstation.
Shared scan profiles are listed with an S character <S> next to their names. Once a shared scan profile is edited and saved, the <S> designation is removed from the name.
VRS ISIS Interface
If you are using the VRS ISIS interface to access VRS, create and manage scan profiles directly from the VRS tab on the interface. For details, see Creating a Scan Profile, Editing a Scan Profile, or Deleting a Scan Profile.
