Image Quality Tab

Use the Image Quality tab on the Kofax VRS Interactive Viewer to set quality adjustments that are applied to images during and after a scan operation. The adjustments give you the ability to achieve optimal image quality for black and white, grayscale, and color images.

The table describes the controls that are available on the Image Quality tab.

Control	Name	Description
Page Adjustments group
	Auto Deskew	Automatically straightens images that are skewed.
	Auto Crop	Automatically crops an image to the actual paper size scanned, rather than the paper size selected in the scan application.
	Edge Cleanup	Automatically trims the same amount from each image edge.
	Edge Fill	Automatically repairs edges, such as folded corners.
	Hole Fill	Automatically fills hole marks with the background color.
	Auto Rotate	Automatically rotates images 90, 180, or 270 degrees, based on the detected orientation of the text content.
	Merge Sides	Combines front and back sides to produce a single image.
Blank Page group
	Detect	Marks (internally) pages that are confidently determined to be blank.
	Delete	Removes pages that are confidently determined to be blank.
	Settings	Sets the threshold at which a page is considered blank, even if it contains speckling or other marks.
Clarity group
	Brightness & Contrast	Applies Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma settings to images in any color mode.
	Auto Brightness	Automatically optimizes brightness for black and white or grayscale images.
	Auto Contrast	Applies special processing to achieve optimal image quality for challenging black and white documents.
Black & White group
	Line Weight	Adjusts the thickness of lines and text on black and white images.
	Speckle Filter	Removes speckling from black and white images.
	Halftone Pictures	Improves the appearance of pictures on black and white images.
Color group
	Detection	Sets the scanner to automatically detect and process images according to the detected color mode (color or black and white).
	Smoothing	Smooths variations in the image background to improve readability and reduce the file size.
Manual Adjustments group
	Straighten	Manually adjusts the angle of a skewed image.
	Crop	Crops image to the size of the rectangle that you draw.
	Change to B & W	Converts the selected image to black and white.
	Change to Grayscale	Converts the selected image to grayscale.
	Change to Color	Converts the selected image to color.
	Delete	Deletes the image.
Scanner group
	Driver Settings	Opens a window for adjusting settings supported by your scanner driver.
Reset group
	Original Settings	Restores all values on the Image Quality tab to the state that was in effect the last time you selected a profile or scanned a page, whichever is more recent.
