Data Matrix is a variable size, two-dimensional (2-D) matrix symbology that contains dark and light square data modules. It has a finder pattern on the perimeter of the code, which is used for finding the symbol. The finder pattern consists of solid dark lines on two adjacent sides, and alternating dark and light modules on the other two sides. The finder pattern is surrounded by a quiet zone on all four sides of the symbol.

Data Matrix includes error detection and correction features, and can encode all ASCII characters, ISO characters, and EBCDIC characters. The size of the bar code is dependent on the amount of encoded data. Refer to your bar code documentation for more detailed information about Data Matrix specifications.

Kofax Capture can process 2-D bar code types via the Enhanced Bar Code Engine, which requires additional licensing.
