Using VRS QC Later with the Quality Control Module

VRS QC Later is installed automatically and then enabled when certain conditions are met.  Assuming those conditions have been satisfied, you can use VRS QC Later in your workflow to repair badly scanned images without the need to physically rescan the documents. This may save time, and the improved image quality may result in better recognition results. The Kofax Capture modules that support scanning (except the Administration module) also support VRS QC Later. These are the Scan, Quality Control, and custom standard modules.

  1. Start the Kofax Capture Scan module.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Page group, click VRS QC Later.
  3. Scan the batch as you normally would. During the scanning process, Kofax VRS automatically identifies bad images as unacceptable and marks them as rejected with a suitable note (similar to Flagged for VRS QC Later - Brightness Out of Range (+/-) ).
  4. Close the batch. The batch is sent to Quality Control because it has rejected images.
  5. Open the batch in the Quality Control module. After opening the batch, Quality Control sets the focus to the first rejected image.
  6. On the Home tab, in the Page group, click VRS QC Later (or right-click for a context menu). If the scan source is not VRS QC Later, Kofax Capture automatically selects it, and then the VRS Interactive Viewer is displayed.
  7. Make adjustments to the image.
  8. Click OK to save your adjustments and close the VRS Interactive Viewer. The corrected image is displayed in the image viewer, and the page is unrejected. The page note remains unchanged. Quality Control sets the focus to the next rejected image.
  9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 for all rejected images that you want to adjust.
  10. When you are done with VRS QC Later, you can reset the scan source. If you do not reset the scan source, it automatically returns to the default setting the next time you open the Quality Control module.

You can adjust your images right at the scan station without sending them to the Quality Control module.
