About Kofax PDF tabs in integrated applications

To use a PDF toolbar in other applications, Kofax Power PDF should be integrated in these applications. You can enable or disable the integration during a Custom Setup.

The Kofax PDF tab offers tools for PDF creation and unlocking (conversion). The three Create buttons correspond to the Kofax PDF menu items.

In Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, there is no Convert Settings tool, since these programs accept Standard document processing only.

The Kofax PDF tab in Microsoft Outlook includes the following tools.

Icon	Description
	Convert PDF: Starts a conversion of PDF or XPS attachments with the settings specified in the PDF Conversion settings tab on the Settings dialog box.
	Archive Folder: Archive the currently selected mail folder in the main window to a set of PDF files. This tool is available only in the Outlook main window. See About archiving.
	Archive Mail: Archive the currently selected items to a set of PDF files. See About archiving.
	Create PDF from attachments: Create PDF files from Outlook email attachments of supported file types. This tool is available in the Outlook main window toolbar only, becomes active only if the current message has at least one attachment of a file type suitable for conversion to PDF.
	Attach file to mail as PDF: Convert a local file to PDF and attach it to an outgoing mail or reply. You must select a mail message to use this option.
	Settings: Set preferences for creating, archiving and converting PDF files.

Create a PDF file from the currently opened document, web page or mail attachments.

Create and save a PDF from any source except a mail system and attach a copy to a new email message ready for sending.

Define optional settings:

• In Word, open the Kofax PDF Settings for Word dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links, comments and tags are transferred to the PDF. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.

• In Excel, display the Kofax PDF Settings for Excel dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links and comments are transferred to the PDF. Also specify the addressing mode for the link target document. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.

• In PowerPoint, display the Kofax PDF Settings for PowerPoint dialog box where you can define how bookmarks, links and comments are transferred to the PDF. Also specify the addressing mode for the link target document. Under Advanced Settings, you can access the Kofax PDF Create Properties dialog box.

Use the Open PDF/XPS tool to select a single PDF or XPS file to be converted and opened in the current application, ready for editing.

Access conversion settings to select a preferred conversion mode in Word (direct conversion as Standard, Form or Legal, or use Convert Assistant). In Excel and PowerPoint there is no choice: the mode is always a direct conversion as Spreadsheet and Standard Document, respectively.

Kofax Power PDF offers the following commands in the Kofax PDF Create extension in supported internet browsers.

Open in Kofax Power PDF (in Edge only) This command is enabled only when viewing a PDF file in the browser.

Create PDF from the web page

Create PDF and add to existing PDF

Create PDF and send in e-mail

Create PDF and send to DMS

In Edge, the Open in Kofax Power PDF floating command panel appears automatically when viewing PDF files. To disable the panel, clear the Show "Open in Kofax Power PDF" setting in the extension menu.
