Hide and show application window components

Proceed with the following tasks to hide and show tabs or panels.

Hide and show tabs

  1. Double-click any tab heading to hide the Ribbon. To show it, you have the following options:
    • Double-click any tab heading. The Ribbon appears permanently.

    • Single-click any tab heading. This way, the Ribbon disappears again when you click somewhere else in the program window.

You can also do any of the following to hide and show the Ribbon:

    • Use the arrowhead tool next to the Find a Tool box at the top right of the Ribbon.

    • Press F9. This option hides or shows the entire toolbar with the tab headings included.

Use the document settings under Initial View to instruct PDF applications to open the document with the toolbar hidden. If you receive a PDF document with the toolbar hidden, press F9 to restore it.

Hide and show panels from the Panel bar

Several tools are shown in the panel by default, but more are available.

  • Click a tool on the Panel bar to display its panel. If you do not see a tool you need, right-click for a shortcut menu and select the one you need. Use this menu also to hide unneeded tools.
  • To hide a vertical panel, click its button on the Panel bar again or click the close control (x) at the top-right of the panel.
  • Move the divider at the right of the panel area to change the amount of screen area used by the panel.
