Output Options

This dialog box appears in the following cases:

  • You click Mark selected results for redaction when running search and redact on a PDF portfolio or PDF files in a folder.

  • You use the Reduce tool to reduce the size of the current file or multiple files.

  • You use the Find & Replace tool to replace a phrase in multiple documents.

It offers the following options:

  • Destination Folder: Select the folder where to save the modified documents.

    • Same folder as original: Saves the documents to the same folder where they currently reside.

    • Specific folder: Click Browse to save to another folder.

    • Don’t save changes: Redacted files remain open in the application without saving.

  • File Name: Specify how to name the new documents.
    • Keep original file names: The output document names are identical to the original ones.
    • Add to original file names: Select this option to add a suffix and prefix to the file name.
    • Overwrite existing files: Select this check box to overwrite files that already exist in the selected folder with the same name.

If the output document names are identical to the originals and the original folder is specified, then Power PDF overwrites the source documents. As a result, you may lose the redacted information permanently. Redaction cannot be undone once it is applied. To avoid mistakes, we strongly advise you to back up the original PDF files before you perform redaction; or save them with a different name and/or location.

  • Output Format: Select Apply redaction to permanently redact all marks as you click OK (redaction only).
