Scanning batches

  1. Switch on the scanner.

  2. Place sheets in the scanner's document feeder.

  3. Start SCAN CLIENT by double-clicking the shortcut on your Windows Desktop.

  4. If needed (for example if multiple scanners are connected to the workstation), select a scanner:

    1. Switch the scanner on so that the scanner driver is detected by SCAN CLIENT.

    2. Select Scanner > Source > Scanner source.

    3. In the dialog that is displayed, select an available scanner and click OK.

Tip: It is possible to skip the scanning step during testing.

  5. In Scan control, select a scan profile. Alternatively, select your scan profile on the Scan profiles menu. This loads the settings for your scan process.

The name of the selected scan profile is displayed in bold, or has a check mark next to it in the Scan Profiles menu.

  6. Start scanning batches by clicking the Scan Batch button (). Alternatively, start the scan process by pressing F6 or by selecting Scanner > Scan Batch.

While scanning a batch, you can...

    • Stop scanning. You can click the Stop scanning button () to manually stop a current scan process. Depending on the speed of the connected scanner, several pages can be fed into the scanner before the scanner stops. The response time depends on the size of the scanner's memory buffer.

    • Continue scanning. Right-click the batch and select Continue scanning. Alternatively, click the Continue batch scan button (), if it is visible, or press F8. Only available for open batches.

    • Continue scanning from a specific position. Right-click and select Continue scanning from position. In this case, the images are inserted into the batch from the selected point onwards. Any structural settings are taken into account. Only available for open batches.

    • Delete everything after a specific position. Right-click and select Delete from here. Only available for open batches.

    • Delete everything after a specific position and continue scanning. Right-click and select Delete from here and continue. Only available for open batches.

    • Rescan a sheet. Right-click an individual image, a page, or a whole sheet, and select Rescan sheet. The assignment of images (front and back page, or black and white, color or grayscale) takes place automatically, as long as the selected scan profile makes corresponding images available.

      Only available for open batches.

Rescanning individual images or pages is disabled if Sheet cohesion is set to True in Batch settings (see Specifying the scope of changes in batches). In that case only entire sheets can be rescanned.

    • Switch the front and back pages. Right-click a sheet and select Switch front/back page. The image files are automatically named in the correct order.

  7. View and adjust images.

  8. If necessary, correct errors and restructure batches.

  9. When a batch is complete, close (release) it.
