Configuring blank page detection

Blank pages can be detected during scanning. The result is saved in the "BLANK" attribute of the scanned images and can then be used for document separation, for example.

Tip: Using the Blank Page Remover offers additional functions for handling blank pages.

Use this procedure to detect blank pages in the batches that are scanned using the selected scan profile:

  1. Select Scan profiles > Scan profile management. The Scan profile management dialog is displayed.

  2. In the left pane, select a scan profile.

  3. In the left pane, right-click a scan profile and select Image filters.

  4. In the list of supported image filters, double-click Blank Page Detection to move it to the right pane.

  5. Click the Configure filter icon (). This opens the Blank Page Detection – Settings dialog.

  6. Adjust the settings to suit the batches to be scanned.

Recommended: The edges of the sheets often cause problems detecting blank pages. Therefore, set the margins (Top, Bottom, Left, and Right) to for example 10 mm.

  7. Click OK to close the Blank Page Detection – Settings dialog.

  8. Click OK to close the Scan profile management dialog.

  9. Test the scan profile to ensure that blank pages are detected correctly.

When you configure blank page detection in the scan profile, in the Thumbnail viewer a symbol () is superimposed on the pages detected as empty.
