Adjusting keyboard shortcuts

You can adjust the shortcut keys and function keys for the most important functions in SCAN CLIENT.

If you are an administrator, use this procedure

  1. Select Options > Configuration.

  2. In the Configuration dialog, select Environment > Shortcuts.

  3. Select whether you want to adjust:

    • Global shortcuts (for all users). Changes affect all workstations that are connected to the same database.

Note: If you select this option, users cannot adjust their own shortcuts.

    • Local shortcuts (on this workstation).

Note: If you select this option, other users on this workstation cannot adjust their own shortcuts.

    • User shortcuts (for the logged-in user).

  4. Assign shortcuts as desired. You can find them on these tabs:

    • Scanning – shortcuts for controlling the scanning process.

    • Batch – shortcuts for manipulating batches and handling errors. You can also assign a shortcut that opens the Batch viewer.

    • Image – shortcuts for navigating between images, rotating and editing images, and switching the front and back pages. These apply in multiple program panels.

    • Surface – shortcuts for opening and closing program panels, as well as zooming in and out of images.

    • Custom components – these are reserved for use with custom components.

Otherwise, use this procedure

Note: The first time you log in, the shortcut settings are copied from the global shortcuts, so that they can be used as a template for user-specific settings. You can then adjust these settings, unless your administrator has specified otherwise. You can also reset the shortcuts back to the global settings at any time by clicking Reset default in the dialog.

  1. Select Options > Shortcuts.

  2. Optional: Select Always on top to keep this dialog in view while you work.

  3. Click Change settings.

  4. Assign shortcuts as desired. You can find them in these groups:

    • Scanning – shortcuts for controlling the scanning process.

    • Batch – shortcuts for manipulating batches and handling errors. You can also assign a shortcut that opens the Batch viewer.

    • Image – shortcuts for navigating between images, rotating and editing images, and switching the front and back pages. These apply in multiple program panels.

    • Surface – shortcuts for opening and closing program panels, as well as zooming in and out of images.

  5. Click OK to save your changes.
