Specifying how batches are named

Closed

By default, SCAN CLIENT generates batch names using date and time in this format: YYYYMMDDhhmmss.

For example, a batch scanned on July 08, 2012 at 06:43:24 AM receives this name: 20120708064324.

You can adjust batch names in each scan profile. Use the below procedure.

Note: You must be an administrator to do this.

  1. Select Scan profiles > Scan profile management. The Scan profile management dialog is displayed.

  2. In the left pane, select a scan profile.

  3. In the right pane, double-click Batch name. This opens the Batch name dialog.

  4. Batch names are typically generated from the barcode values from batch cover sheets. To use barcode values:

    1. Barcode detection must be configured first. See instructions.

    2. Drag Barcode value from Barcode extraction into the configuration area.

    3. Optional: Set Barcode required to True in the Configuration dialog > Batch settings.

In this case, if no barcode is found, an error message is displayed, and the scan operator can either type a barcode value manually or interrupt the scan process.

  5. Combine multiple elements to create unique batch names.

These elements are available for forming batch names:

User-defined elements

  • Constants – characters that are reused in each batch name. Use them to add an underscore ( _ ) between two other elements, for example.

  • Batch name via custom component
