The Configuration dialog: Batch settings

Note: You must be an administrator to access these settings.

At the top of the dialog you can configure how the batch tree is displayed during scanning:

Expand tree after scan

After you scan a batch, the batch tree is expanded so that you can see all of its elements.

Close tree after scan

The batch tree is displayed during scanning. Afterward it is collapsed. However, you can expand it manually for navigation.

Always closed

The batch tree is displayed during scanning. Afterwards it is collapsed and cannot be expanded.

Using these other settings you can configure more of what happens during scanning:

Add scanner error info to batch data

Scanner errors such as double feed are added to the metadata of the batch. See Including scanner error info in batch data.

Barcode detection error

When barcode detection is active, the setting prevents barcode errors (NULL value from barcode detection) from being saved in the scanned image.

For scan operators this means that this error does not have to be resolved before closing (releasing) batches.

Barcode required

When this is set to True, new batches are named using barcode values that you specify.

In this case, if no barcode is found, an error message is displayed, and the scan operator can either type a barcode value manually or interrupt the scan process.

Batch separator in single document

Activate this option when you need batch separation between the batch separator and the rest of the scanned batch. In this case SCAN CLIENT automatically creates a new document after each batch separator. See Automatically creating a new document after each batch separator.

Edit images

Enables scan operators to use the Image Verifier after scanning. See Enabling the Image Verifier.

Manual document separation

Includes splitting tools in the context menu of the Thumbnail viewer, so that scan operators can correct errors and restructure batches. See Enabling scan operators to split documents and restructure batches.

Max. open batches

Specify the maximum number of open batches. See Limiting the number of open batches during scanning.

Mixed scan profiles

Allows scan operators to create a batch using two or more scan profiles.

Tip: The warning messages that are displayed when this option is used can be deactivated in the Messages settings.

Only batches from the current scan station

If you switch this setting to False, all batches in the watched output folders are displayed, regardless of which scan station they were scanned at. See Viewing more batches than those scanned locally.

Warning: Performance problems may result in high-volume installations.

Reopen batch after export error

If you configure export via a synchronously running custom component or via an exporter, select this option to automatically reset batch status to Scanned if an error is reported. See Configuring and using your SCAN CLIENT custom component (add-on) or Configuring an exporter.

Save rotated images

Images that a scan operator rotates are saved in their rotated state. See Saving image rotation to file.

Sheet cohesion

If this option is activated, all operations that affect a single image are applied to all pages associated with the sheet. See Specifying the scope of changes in batches.

Split batch allowed

Allows new batches to be formed based on barcode values that you specify. See Using barcodes for document separation or batch separation.

Unique batch names are required

If you set this to True, scanning stops if a batch is about to receive the same name as an existing batch. If you set it to False, an existing batch name is reused, but with a counter added to it (so batches are named Batchname_1, Batchname_2, etc., as described in this troubleshooting topic).
