Copy and move folders

To move or copy a folder out of a cabinet, you need Move and View rights, as well as Create rights on the destination cabinet. When you move a folder, a copy is placed temporarily in the Recycle bin until the move is successfully completed. Once completed, the system permanently removes the folder from the Recycle Bin. To copy or move a folder, perform the following actions.

  1. Select and open the preferred repository and cabinet. Right-click the appropriate folder and click Mark. Alternatively, select the folder and click Tools > Mark.
  2. Click Move to open the list, then select the cabinet where you want to move the folder.

When the process is complete, "Move Complete" appears in the Status column.

If the cabinet does not appear on the menu, verify cabinet compatibility. Cabinet tabs and indexes must match between the cabinets that folders are moved to and from. To ensure cabinet compatibility, perform one of the following procedures.

Confirm cabinet compatibility through Advanced Cabinets

  1. Log in to PSIsafe Desktop Management either as the Administrator or a user with appropriate Management privileges. You must be a cabinet owner to perform advanced cabinet functions in some cases.
  2. On the File menu, select Cabinets > Advanced > Indexes and Tabs.
  3. Set the Source cabinet as the cabinet you are copying from.
  4. Set the Destination cabinet as the cabinet you are moving to.
  5. In step 3, select Add tabs?
  6. Click Apply.

The two cabinets are now compatible.

Confirm cabinet compatibility through Cabinet Copy

If the cabinet you want to move a folder to is a new cabinet, you can use the Cabinets > Copy function to duplicate the structure of the cabinet you are moving from.

  1. Log in to PSIsafe Desktop Management either as the Administrator or a user with appropriate Management privileges.
  2. On the File menu, select Copy.
  3. In the Cabinet Copy pane, select the following options:
    1. In step 3, select Structure.
    2. In step 4, select Yes.

Folders and Documents copy the corresponding content within the cabinet.

  4. Click Copy.

The two cabinets are now compatible, allowing for the Mark > Copy and Mark > Move actions to be performed between the two cabinets.
