Create and Edit Folders

The basics of PSIsafe Desktop folder creation are intuitive and straightforward. Imagine that in most cases, a folder in PSIsafe Desktop is meant to represent a real file folder in a physical cabinet.

Folders may be populated by clicking on New and manually entering the index information. Edit the folder by clicking on Edit (on the button bar or right click on the folder). Populate folders by selecting Tools, on the button bar, and automatically populate the indexes by importing the information from a CSV spreadsheet.

Import Folder Indexes using a CSV spreadsheet

If you already have an organization scheme setup in a CSV spreadsheet, or any other kind of database, workbook, or file that can be converted to CSV format, those index values can be imported and quickly set up with corresponding folder indexes within PSIsafe Desktop. Follow the steps below to accomplish this task.

  1. Create cabinet in Management - a CSV spreadsheet has been created and based on the indexes built in the cabinet will populate the folders.
  2. Select Tools > Folder Action > Indexes > Import Folder Indexes.
  3. Select the location of your CSV spreadsheet and check the headers if appropriate.
  4. Set the Repository, Cabinet, and Folder Sensitivity as appropriate.
  5. Map PSIsafe Desktop indexes to the source data fields as appropriate.
  6. Update existing folder matches if necessary.
  7. Select Import to complete the initial index import process.
  8. After import is complete, select on the Find button in the search folder area to import and attach folders.
