Merge and mark folders

In the course of managing content in PSIsafe Desktop, it may be necessary to merge two or more folders into a single folder. Use the merge process to merge multiple folders into a single primary folder. After you place items in the primary folder, the system automatically deletes the empty folders.

Merge Folders:

  1. Select and right-click the folders to merge, and click Merge.
  2. Select the folder that items will be merged into, and click Primary Folder.
  3. Click Merge.

When the merge is complete, the corresponding message appears in the Folder Merge window. The Merge option becomes inactive and the folders are combined.

Mark folders to move and copy

The Mark function entirely moves a folder from one cabinet to another.

Move and Copy functions are interchangeable in the steps below. Move is used for the example below. The same requirements apply to the Copy function.

Cabinet Tabs and Indexes must match between the cabinets that folders are moved to and from. If the cabinet does not appear in the selection list, verify cabinet compatibility in PSIsafe Management.

Users require Move and View rights to move or copy a folder out of a cabinet, and must have Create rights on the destination cabinet. When a folder is moved, a copy is placed temporally in the Recycle Bin until the move is successfully completed. Once completed, the folder is permanently removed from the Recycle Bin.

Copy or move a folder via Mark

  1. To begin, select the folder within the Cabinets section of PSIsafe Desktop, right-click, and select Mark. Alternatively, a user can select the folder with a left-click, then select Tools > Mark.
  2. Select the Move dropdown menu, then select the cabinet to which you wish to move the folder.
  3. When the process is complete, Move Complete will display in the Status column.
