Export folder indexes

PSIsafe Desktop enables users and administrators to form custom folder indexes based on a variety of factors that suit their business needs. To move these indexes from one cabinet to another without using the cabinet copy function, users or administrators can instead export the folder indexes independently as a CSV or XML file, which has broad-reaching compatibility with third-party solutions.

To start the export, pull up the folders with the index values to export. You can do this through search or by browsing to the folders within the PSIsafe Desktop cabinets browser.

Additionally, you can select indexes to export instead of exporting all indexes. This saves time and eliminates the need to delete unwanted columns in the exported CSV or XML file.

Search method

Use folder search to create a list of folders to export. Narrow down results by adding appropriate search query terms. You can use the F3 button in the cabinets browser or use the Full Search screen. If using F3, the results are displayed within the folder pane. If using the Full Search screen, the results are displayed on the second page.

To open a Full Search screen, click Search in the upper-right search field and perform the following steps.

  1. Select preferred folders (use Ctrl + Left-Click and Shift + Left-Click to select folders from the list as needed) and select Tools > Folder Actions > Indexes > Export Folder Indexes. The Export Folder Indexes screen appears.
  2. Different export options are available to expedite the process:
    • Select All: Selects all folders within the given search results or cabinet for export.
    • Listed: Uses only the currently listed search results or filtered list for export.
    • Selection: Uses only the highlighted selections for export.
  3. Select the preferred file type: CSV or XML.
  4. Click the ellipsis button on the right to browse to the location where you want the file to reside, or type a path manually.

  5. If you are finished with your selection, you can click Export. Otherwise, you can narrow down your export results. Click Columns to use the Column Selection tool.

Select the indexes you do not want to export and click the Remove button to send the indexes to the Do Not Export side of the panel. To re-add indexes you want to export, click Add. Then, click Save. This will return you to the Export Folder Indexes panel, where you can click Export to complete the process.
