Log in to PSIsafe Desktop

Log in to PSIsafe Desktop using a local PSIsafe account

The PSIsafe Desktop login screen is simple and straightforward, with a few features available for the user to customize.

When you first open the PSIsafe Desktop application, the login window appears. By default, no server connection information is programmed on the initial launch. This means that when opening the application for the first time, users need administrator assistance to set up the connection configuration between their PSIsafe Desktop client and the PSIsafe Desktop server.

In most instances, the Connection Configuration window appears on first-time launch. If the Connection Configuration window does not automatically appear, select the "Gear" icon and click Connection configuration. Input the corresponding server information, with assistance from an administrator if necessary, to enable a user to log in.

  1. Within the Connection Configuration window, begin by selecting your installation type, either Cloud or On-Premises.
Consult your PSIsafe Administrator to determine which kind of server installation your company uses. When selecting Cloud as a connection option, the PSIsafe Desktop server IP address field is greyed out and the remote URL is set automatically. This address can be changed under the Show Advanced Settings > Set URL area for unique installations that require a custom Cloud URL.
  2. Enter the PSIsafe Desktop server IP address, either a Cloud Customer Code, such as 12345, or a local IPv4 address or IPv6 machine name, such as 192.168.1.5 or PSISAFE-SERVER, for an On-Premise installation. For On-Premise installations, the Customer Code field should be left as the default.
  3. After successfully inputting your connection configuration information, exit the client and re-open it to refresh your connection attempt. You can also use the Refresh button on the right-hand side of the "Connect to" field.
  4. Enter the username and password provided by your PSIsafe administrator's initial configuration process and click Login. For assistance with login credentials, contact your PSIsafe administrator.

Change a local PSIsafe user password

Users can change and reset their own passwords when the corresponding setting is enabled in PSIsafe Management. When the password reset feature is enabled, the Login screen displays the Forgot your password? link.

Many password parameters are configurable in PSIsafe Management, including:

  1. Enable password reset: when enabled, the Forgot your password? link is displayed and users get the ability to reset their passwords without assistance.

  2. Enable password security challenge: provides an additional layer of security by randomly presenting any of the three user-defined challenges that must be answered. The user must define the challenges/answers prior to being able to use the Password Reset Security Challenge.

  3. Password policy: enforces minimum password requirements.

Change password

To change a password:

  1. Click on the ellipsis "..." next to the password field.
  2. Enter the Old Password, New Password, and Confirm Password fields accordingly and click Save to complete the password change process.

If a Password policy is enabled, the user can see what the minimum requirements are by clicking the Policy Info button.
