Print to PSIsafe Desktop option

PSIsafe Desktop enables you to file content by printing from any source to a bundled Print Driver or a Print Driver alternative that works for your specific business needs. The default print driver is the Black Ice Print Driver, which offers a variety of file types, formats, and compression methods.

The print to PSIsafe Desktop option is universal. You can file content from any location within Windows or any other program that uses a print function to send content to a printer driver.

The PSIsafe Desktop Printer is located, like any other printer, within the Devices and Printers interface for Windows Control Panel. The printer can be listed as PSIsafe, CNG Safe, Safe Printer, or a custom label suited to your needs.

Before printing to PSIsafe Desktop with the Black Ice Driver, customize the compression and file type settings.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Select the PSIsafe Desktop printer and click Manage.
  3. Click Printing preferences.

The Black Ice Printer settings window appears.

  4. In the PSIsafe Desktop Printing Preferences window, go to the Device Settings tab and select:
    1. Page Size (Letter, 8.5" x 11" by default)
    2. Graphic Resolution (DPI) settings

The Graphic Resolution determines the output resolution of your printed image, which is the quality in pixels of the rendered image. Consult your internal IT professional or PSIsafe Desktop administrator to determine the best settings for this area. The default resolution is 200 DPI.

    3. 3 MB for the Generated Image Size.
  5. The File Format tab determines both the output file type that is pushed to PSIsafe Desktop, as well as the compression, color depth, and overall quality. These settings should be determined by your internal IT professionals or PSIsafe Desktop administrators, as they determine the file size and quality of output files sent to PSIsafe Desktop through the Black Ice Driver. The default settings are: TIFF for file format, and 8 bits for color depth.
