Classification
Classification is the assignment of a document type to a document during production. If extraction is configured for your solution, successful classification is needed for successful extraction.
There are two types of classification possible in DocAI Studio.
- Trainable classification:

Based on the layout and content of the training documents uploaded during configuration.
- Generative AI classification:

Based on the description provided in each document type.
By default, both classification methods are enabled for a solution.
Classification sequence
Classification is performed in a specific sequence, depending on how your solution is configured.
If training documents are provided then trainable classification is performed first. If generative AI classification is enabled, it is performed only if trainable classification fails to return a confident classification result.
If there are no training documents then generative AI classification is performed on its own.
