PSIsafe Synchronizer prerequisites
Before you proceed with the PSIsafe Synchronizer configuration process, note that the prerequisites are as follows:
- PSIsafe Desktop Server and Client 12.3.x or later
- External ODBC DSN or SQL Connection String
- Windows Server 2016 and higher
- External database credentials
Things to know before configuring PSIsafe Synchronizer
Before starting the configuration process for PSIsafe Synchronizer, we recommend that you collect the following key details."
- Database information
- Where is the database located?

- Oracle
- Microsoft Access
- Other
- Connecting to the database
- Do you have an OLE DB or ODBC driver, or DSN for the database?
- Can a Data Source Name (DSN) be built to point to the database?
- Accessing the data in the database
- What table or query will be connected to PSIsafe Desktop?
- Do you need to build a query spanning several tables?
- What is the primary key field for the database or query?
- Which
PSIsafe Desktop
repository and cabinet to use.
- Do the field definitions in the table match the folder index definitions?
- For example, data table has separate fields for last name, first name, then the PSIsafe Desktop folder indexes should as well.
- Do the field definitions in the table match the folder index definitions?
- Matching is done on a field by field basis.
- For each required field in the database table/query, you need a corresponding field in the PSIsafe Desktop folder indexes.
- How often will the
PSIsafe Synchronizer
work?
- Hourly, daily, weekly, or otherwise?
- Stress will occur on the server briefly during this time period, so be aware of peak usage times of PSIsafe Desktop.
- PSIsafe Synchronizer can be used to connect to different databases and cabinets. Separate PSIsafe Synchronizer setups are required for each database connection. Each scheduled synchronization runs all configured profiles at once.
