Set up local managers

Occasionally, you may prefer a different version of a specific program, such as Adobe Acrobat instead of Adobe Reader to operate on a users specific local machine. Additionally, you may want to use these programs to only launch on certain workstations within the network, or on an associated system. PSIsafe Desktop supports localization of content managers to specific computers through Local Managers. A local content manager points a certain file type to a different program instead of the global document manager configured in the Programs pane of the Details: Step 1 of 3 screen.

To define a Local Manager.

  1. On the Local Managers: Step 2 of 3 screen, select Add or Edit.
  2. In the Local host name field, enter the computer name to associate with the local manager. Example: IPv4 Address or IPv6 Machine Name.
  3. Local Document Handling Programs: Enter the path to the local program, similar to defining the program on the Details: Step 1 of 3 screen. The program defined here will only launch on the computer defined under the Local host name field.
Apply the same parameter and program path options described in the topic in Set up details.
