Preconfigured recognition profiles

When a project is created, several recognition profiles are preconfigured automatically. These default profiles are each configured for a specific purpose. For example, there are four OmniPage zone recognition profiles. Each is configured for a specific print type or content type.

If you need to modify one of the preconfigured profiles, the best practice is that you copy the profile and modify its copy. This ensures that you do not lose any of the default settings.

When a project is first created, several recognition profiles are created.

You can only change the type (OCR/OMR) of those profiles that are not set as defaults. If you open the profile settings window of a default profile, a warning is displayed near the top of the window.

The following are the preconfigured recognition profiles:

Description

Mixed Print

This predefined page recognition profile performs full page recognition by recognizing a mixture of hand and machine printed text using the OmniPage page recognition profile together with the OP_HandAlphanum profile.

Use this profile to recognize and extract machine printed and hand written text on a document. Since this predefined recognition profile is customized to expect all types of texts, ranging from hand printed annotations and signatures to machine printed text, the extraction results using this profile can be more successful than the other profiles. See also Adding a Mixed Print Page Recognition Profile.

OP_HandAlphanum

This predefined zone recognition profile is specialized to recognize hand printed alphanumeric characters using the OmniPage recognition engine.

All other OmniPage zone recognition profile settings use their default values.

OP_HandNum

This predefined zone recognition profile is specialized to recognize hand printed numbers using the OmniPage recognition engine.

All other OmniPage zone recognition profile settings use their default values.

OP_MachineAlphanum

This predefined recognition profile is specialized to recognize machine printed alphanumeric characters using the OmniPage recognition engine.

All other OmniPage zone recognition profile settings use their default values.

OP_MachineNum

This predefined recognition profile is specialized to recognize machine printed numbers using the OmniPage recognition engine.

All other OmniPage zone recognition profile settings use their default values.

OMR_Auto_Single

This predefined OMR recognition profile is specialized to automatically recognize a single OMR mark.

This profile is configured to use the One checked zone Automatic Mode. All other OMR recognition profile settings use their default values.

Use this profile to recognize and extract single OMR marks. For example, a form contains a check box to confirm the terms and conditions are understood. Since this predefined recognition profile is customized to recognize whether this field is checked or not, the extraction results using this profile can be more successful than other profiles.

For more information, see Add an OMR recognition profile

OMR_Auto_Multi

This predefined OMR recognition profile is specialized to automatically recognize more than one OMR mark.

This profile is configured to use the "Many checked zones" Automatic Mode. All other OMR recognition profile settings use their default values.

Use this profile to recognize and extract multiple OMR marks. For example, a form requires the user to select multiple items in a list by filling in an entire check box. Since this predefined recognition profile is customized to recognize what items in this list are selected or not, the extraction results using this profile can be more successful than other profiles.

OMR_Manual

This predefined OMR recognition profile is specialized to recognized OMR marks that fall within a range of 20% and 40% blackness.

This profile is configured to use the "Manual" mode. All other OMR recognition profile settings use their default values.

Use this profile to recognize and extract OMR marks using predefined restrictions on marked and unmarked fields. For example, a document has several fields that require check marks to confirm selection. Since this predefined recognition profile is customized to recognize marks that contain between 20% and 40% blackness, such as a check mark, the extraction results using this profile can be more successful than other profiles.
