Edit the formatting for an inherited field

Use the procedure in this topic to edit the formatting for an inherited field.

The only settings that you can modify on an inherited field are related to formatting. For simple fields, this is limited to field formatting, letter case, and recognition rereading. For table fields, you can also specify which columns require confirmation or are always valid.

Procedure

  1. Expand the Project Tree and select the class that contains the field that you want to edit.
  2. Optional. View the class contents if they are not already displayed.

    The hidden class contents are displayed.

  3. Select the field in the Project Tree that you want to modify the formatting.

    The Details window displays the selected field.

  4. For simple fields, modify any of the following settings:

    • Field formatting method

    • Always CAPITAL letters

    • Recognition profile and corresponding Minimum confidence to accept reread result setting

    For table field columns, modify any of the following settings:

    • Formatting

    • Confirm

    • Always Valid

    • Reread and corresponding Minimum confidence to accept reread result setting

    Your changes are saved as they are made.

  5. Thoroughly test your project to ensure the modified field formatting changes perform as expected.
