Utility bill amounts

Utility bills contain different information related to amounts. There is no rule on what information is provided but there is typically three pieces of information that is included in most utility bills. These values are extracted into corresponding fields and displayed on the Validation activity form.

If the current charges printed on the utility bill contain taxes but there is no net amount printed on the same document, then the tax fields must be left empty. It is then necessary for the user to apply the appropriate GL Code during the Coding activity to ensure that the correct tax information is applied.

The following calculation is used to ensure that the various amounts are extracted correctly:

Invoice Total = Balance forward + Net amount + total tax + freight + miscellaneous charge – discount – withholding tax - ISR retention

Where Balance forward is either the extracted value of the BalanceForward field or the calculated value of Balance Previous - Payments received.
