Compare and deploy a package
You can compare a package before deploying it to the deployment server to make sure that all the items you need are included for import.
When you deploy a package, associations are also imported.
-
Navigate to
.
The Packages list page appears.
-
On the context menu of the package to compare and deploy to a deployment server, click
Compare and deploy.
The Compare deployment page opens in a new browser tab with the Compare tab open by default.
-
On the
Compare tab, do the following:
- Select the Deployment configuration. (Default: Base)
-
On the
Deploy to list, select the pre-configured deployment server. See
Configure a
deployment server.
The comparison summary between the current server package and the contents on the selected deployment server is displayed.
The system displays the name, artifact, version, and last modified date of artifacts for both the packages and highlights the new artifacts in green and different artifacts in red.
By default, all the artifacts are displayed. To filter on new, different, or the same artifacts, on the View list, select the required option. (Default: Total). You can also view the new, different, or same artifacts for a specific group. For example, to view the new artifacts for the Capture group, select Capture on the Artifact list, and New on the View list.
-
By default, the
Execute test plans option is selected which means the test cases for the
processes within the package are executed. Clear the check box if you do not want to execute the test cases.
If you choose to execute the test cases, the package is deployed to the deployment server successfully only if the execution of all the test cases associated with the package is passed. If any of the test cases fail, the deployment stops, and the Results tab displays the process map name in which the test case exists, the deployment status as failed, and the reason for the failure. When an error is returned causing the deployment to fail, this means there are one or more issues, and we recommend that you execute your test suite to investigate.
-
On the
Import options tab, select the
Deployment import options,
as needed.
If an item is deselected, the item and its associations are not imported.
-
Click
Deploy.
-
The package is exported using the settings saved in the package and imported to the deployment server applying the import options. If a deployment is unsuccessful, the Results tab displays a summary of errors and warnings. An audit log entry is added to record that a deployment has taken place. When comparing a deployment that is using a server that has been removed, an error is displayed.
-
If you have selected the Allow solution rollback system setting and if any error occurs on deployment, the Rollback solution button appears. To roll back the solution, click Rollback solution. The solution is rolled back. For more information on items that can be rolled back, see Solution rollback items.
If any error occurs during rollback, you can Retry or Cancel the solution rollback. An audit log entry is added for the solution rollback.
