Configure a PDF generation activity
Use the following procedure to configure a PDF generation activity.
-
Add an activity to the map.
By default, the Configuration tab is open in the properties panel of the activity.
- Change the default Name of the activity to something meaningful.
- On the Type list, select .
-
On the
Input document/folder list, select a document or folder variable to configure
the input for the PDF generation activity.
- If you use a document variable, the defined PDF settings are reflected at runtime in the generated PDF.
- If you use a folder variable, the defined PDF settings are reflected at runtime in the generated PDFs for all documents in the folder.
- On the PDF profile list, select a PDF generation profile. See Manage PDF generation profiles.
-
Define the
Title,
Author,
Subject, and
Keywords, used to create the original document using either option:
-
Document type: Sets the content to a value based on Document type fields. The fields must already be created in a Document type. See Add a document type.
-
Custom: Select a variable (process or server) or enter a static value.
-
-
Select
Merge page PDF data.
During PDF generation, if page PDF representations are presented, they are merged into resulted PDF file and the PDF generation profile is ignored in this case. Otherwise, PDF generation uses page images to create a new PDF. If some pages do not have PDF representations, image-based generated PDFs are used for such pages.
If "Merge page PDF data" is selected, the "Retain original PDF metadata" and "Delete page PDF data on success" options are enabled.
- To allow the metadata for the resulting PDF to be not overwritten by the settings specified in the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords fields at runtime, keep Retain original PDF metadata selected.
- To allow page PDF representations to be deleted at the end of PDF generation, keep Delete page PDF data on success selected.
-
Select one of the following for
Reject documents on exceptions.
-
Use system level setting (default): The system rejects the documents or pages or suspends the job based on the selection of the "Reject documents on exceptions" option in the System settings. For more information, see General.
-
Enabled: All the Transformation server activities reject documents or pages instead of suspending the job when an error occurs. The job continues forward to check for rejected documents and handles the documents accordingly.
-
Disabled: The system suspends the activity on exception.
-
- Configure partial completion of the activity. For more information see Partial completion.
- Save the process map.
