Configuration of a Job action button control

The Job action button control displays some options by default depending on the state of the selected job or case.

If you choose not to display any item, the option is not available at runtime.

Option Description

View job

A visual representation of the job and its current progress in the process viewer.

Place on hold

Places a job on hold and delays event processing for the time that you specify.

When a job is placed on hold, no activities are available on any work queues and no processing is done for the specified hold time. The exceptions, milestones, and triggers are affected. When the hold time expires, the job automatically moves to active status and the status of the job activities becomes pending. You can reactivate jobs on hold at any time.

Suspend

Suspends an activated job. When a job is suspended, no activities are available in any work queues.

Terminate

Ends a job. Once you terminate a job, all activities within the selected job are removed.

Activate

Reactivates a suspended job or removes a job from hold status. When you reactivate a job, the job continues from the point where it was stopped.

Recover

Reevaluates a failed job with a status of Ready for evaluation. The Recover action restarts the job evaluation from the point where the previous evaluation failed. For example, if a dynamic resource variable assigned to an activity contains invalid data, the job evaluation fails because the system cannot determine the resource to assign to the activity.

Add note

Adds a job note (of default type) to a job. The creator of the note is set to the currently logged-on resource and the timestamp is also set.

Add notes to a job to include information such as a date or resource name. For example, add a note to indicate that the job cannot progress to the next stage because the resource is on leave.

Change owner

Changes the owner of the job by allowing you to select a different resource (individual or group).

If any activities are assigned to the job owner, the assignment is updated automatically. Only the current owner or supervisor of the current owner can change the owner.

If you currently own a job or if you are the supervisor, you can change the owner of a job at runtime. The first owner is the person who created the job.

Change state

Changes the current state of the job to one of the predefined states.

Re-evaluate skin

Skins are sets of predefined rules that initiate different operational behavior of a process. At job creation, rules are evaluated to ensure that the correct skin is applied.

Re-evaluate score

Changes the values directly within the job and reevaluates the score when viewing the job score from job properties in TotalAgility Workspace.

Re-evaluate preconditions

Use this action to complete the following tasks:

  • Reevaluate activities in a job that have the "Awaiting events" status.

  • Manually change a precondition after starting a job that needs all activities reevaluated against the new precondition value.

Setting a precondition against an activity keeps the activity from the Pending status until the precondition is met.

If TotalAgility Workspace raises an event against a job, yet for reasons, such as database connection issues, cannot complete a precondition evaluation, the status of the activity becomes Awaiting events.

The "Awaiting events" status is like the Pending status except that the activity does not appear on anyone's work queue and no activity notification is sent.

Create job

Starts a job, such as creating a new job, case, or fragment.

Add task

Adds an ad hoc task to a job.

Suggest redesign

Adds a note to a process, to suggest design changes.

Change priority

Changes the priority of a job.

Escalate to supervisor

Changes the owner of the job to supervisor (if available) of the logged-on user. If the logged-on user does not have a supervisor, a message appears.

Manage documents

Displays the documents for the job.
