Stopping KCM Instance

This section describes how you can use the StopInstance.exe tool to stop the KCM instance in your installation.

StopInstance.exe is a command-line tool intended stop all KCM Instance services and set them to disabled.

How the tool works

This section describes how the StopInstance.exe tool works.

  1. Stops all Windows services of the specified KCM instance and sets them to disabled.
  2. Does not affect other instances. If there are no other instances, also stops the Windows services that are shared for all instances.
  3. Undoes the registration of the instance from the Contract Manager if it was registered previously.
  4. Unlocks the repository database from the KCM Instance by removing the validation id.

Execution steps

To stop the installed KCM instance, execute the following steps:

  1. Open the command line interface (CLI). It could be PowerShell or Command Prompt.

  2. In the CLI, navigate to the folder where the StopInstance.exe is located.

  3. Call the StopInstance.exe file with the necessary parameters.

    If everything is correct, the process will run without errors. You will be able to follow the it by reading the CLI output.
