KCM Toolbox for Word installation

KCM Toolbox for Word is an add-in to Microsoft Word that gives you the ability to easily add Fields to Rich Text Blocks and Quick Templates in KCM Designer. The functionality is supported on Microsoft Word 2013 and later, and only for the DOCX documents.

Requirements

  • KCM Toolbox for Word requires a web server.
  • All users running KCM Toolbox for Word must have an active Internet connection.
  • The manifest.xml file for the Toolbox must be stored in a shared folder accessible to all users.
  1. To install KCM Toolbox for Word, in your KCM installation, navigate to the <deploy root>\KCM\Programs\<version>\ITPMDKRepositoryServer\ccmtoolboxforword\webapp folder, copy its content, and then deploy it on your web server. Make a note of the URL used to access the application.
  2. Copy the file ccmforword manifest-5.7.0.0.0.xml from <deploy root>\KCM\Programs\<version>\ITPMDKRepositoryServer\ccmtoolboxforword\manifest to the shared folder.
  3. In the file ccmforword manifest-5.7.0.0.0.xml, specify values for the <AppDomain> node and the DefaultValue attribute of the <SourceLocation> node:

    • In the <AppDomain> node, specify the URL to access the application.
    • In the DefaultValue attribute of <SourceLocation>, specify the URL to access the application and add /app/index.html to it.

  4. Use the ManageCM/ChangeContract commands to configure the shared folder for the ccmforword manifest-5.7.0.0.0.xml file. For configuration, use /Toolboxpath as the parameter. The folder must be configured for each contract where you want to use KCM Toolbox for Word. For example:
    ManageCM /ChangeContract /Partner=CCM /Customer=Local /Toolboxpath=… /force

For more information, see the sections Create a contract and Change properties of a contract.

For information on using KCM Toolbox for Word in KCM Designer, see Create, edit, and view Rich Text Blocks section in the Kofax Communications Manager Designer for Web Help.

Requirements for Editing and Viewing in Word

The editing functionality is based on the native WebDAV technology and is supported for all modern browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, and Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Word 2016 or later is required on the computer where KCM Designer runs.

This functionality requires that the KCM Server is part of the same intranet zone as the client or that is it in the trusted sites zone for each client.

For Internet Explorer, KCM incorporates an ActiveX control that supports editing of documents for Word 2013 and later.
