How and how often is Printix Client updated

Computers will silently update themselves to the latest approved version listed on the Software page. Upon regular intervals and at restart, PrintixService.exe checks whether a newer version is available, and if one is available, it downloads it from software.printix.net and silently installs on top of itself. PrintixService.exe runs under the system account. Whenever we make available a new Printix Client version to a customer, the computers update within 1-2 hours or as they come online. However, the Printix Client may sometimes update at a slower pace.

Customers are typically updated 1-3 times a year. A new version of Printix Client is typically deployed to customers in stages:

  • First, Printix Client is deployed to new customers only and perhaps to selected partners or customers who need new features and/or fixes.

  • Gradually, we will update the remaining customers as we grow confidence in the version. The whole deployment may span several months but can also be faster if the fixes are critical.

If you have submitted a support request that requires a new version of Printix Client, we may first supply that version to you with a download link, so it can be installed on selected computers to verify the resolution to the issue. If you accept, we can proceed and make the Printix Client available to your Printix Home on the Software page where you can also see the version.

When a new version of Printix Client is made available, new versions are typically also made available for Printix Redirector and Printix Configurator.
